More cute kiddos...

Just wanted to get a couple quick pics posted for my new clients who came out to meet me at Inniswood this past Sunday morning (this place rocks...literally, there are ponds and trees and rocks and flowers everywhere!). The weather was gorgeous, the sun was filtering through the trees, and the kiddos were happy to just be themselves (with a little prodding from us grown-ups). I'm also rockin' on the proofs and hopefully will have the full preview ready by next week - woo hoo!

After all my previous fuss...

about which Mother Nature was going to show up for Pics in the Park Day, I was pleasantly surprised to wake up early Saturday morning and see the sun out - I owe a big debt of gratitude to the Old Girl for giving us a break from the spring showers.

Below are a couple sneak peeks for the two families who made it out with me to Inniswood Metro Gardens on a beautiful morning. And, I was even more surprised when the same mallard duck (or a good buddy of his) who was there a few weeks ago was in the exact same spot on a rock near the waterfall pond. I'm going to have start paying him to be in all my pond shots.

A big shout out to my clients because, although it was a really pretty day, it was really cold and really windy - a big round of applause for everyone!

Mom's always right

Every Spring you'll find me glued to TWC (The Weather Channel), keeping a close eye on those hi-pressure systems roaring in from the west or plowing up from the south and playing havoc with my outdoor photo session schedule. Hey, once I thaw out from winter hibernation, I'm ready to GO but Mom Nature usually has the last word (see...another posting about "her." She's getting a lot of publicity from me lately).

I complained yesterday that it looked like rain, rain, and more rain and that I'd probably be sleeping in tomorrow but now it's 3:30pm on Friday afternoon and the sun is out, out, and more out!

That's it - no more TV, no more Google-ing the forecast. Just wait a few hours and it could be back to raining cats and dogs. Mom's always right.

I knew I was taking a chance

If it rains anymore between now and Saturday morning I'll have to reschedule my "Pics in the Park" photo session day at Inniswood Metro Gardens. I knew I was taking a chance when, back in April, I closed my eyes over my May calendar and my finger landed on the 17th. Hmmmm, who was going to show up...the sweet, loving "Mommy Nature" who packs warm rays of golden sunlight filtering through the trees into her traveling bag or the "Wicked Step-mother Nature" who packs a punch with buckets of big old rain drops? Looks like the Step-mom is here to stay...at least over this weekend.

Forecast:
Today - cloudy
Friday - rain
Saturday - rain
Sunday - cloudy

The only saving grace is that she'll be working while my clients and I sleep in.

THANK YOU, MOMS!

Let's face it - without moms, I would have no photography business...

Moms are the ones who call me and say, "I'd love some family photos"...

Moms are the ones who coral their kids into my creative zone so I can get the shot...

Moms are the ones who cherish every moment while I'm capturing them...

Moms are the ones who love so easily when I encourage them to...

Moms are the ones who kiss their little boys because they still can...

Moms are the ones who open their hearts and say, "I love you no matter what..."

Moms are the ones who make my job the best job in the world...so today I say, "THANK YOU, MOMS" for the privilege of capturing a slice of your family's life. Without you, the world would be a different place.

Still on Cloud Nine!

Well, I just have to share my excitement with everyone after posting proofs late yesterday afternoon for my little girlfriend and her mom - Mom emailed to say how much their family loved all 54 images (no kidding - these are her very words, "OK- I am sooooo excited I can barely contain myself! You are amazing. I am not sure how I can love literally almost every shot. My husband and I looked through them and we are ready to buy them all :) Seriously, I feel like you really captured my daughter - all of her. From her little run, to her devious smile, to her inquisitive nature. I mean come on, you even got a duck to pose for you!!"). I do have to laugh because right at the very end of our session, as I was setting up the last shot of Naomi sitting on the rock bridge over a pond, this mallard duck flies in from nowhere, lands in the water, and proceeds to calmly float around while I furiously snapped photos! I couldn't have planned it any better! I'm still on Cloud Nine!

Here are just a few of my favorites...

Garden Party!

Mother Nature was soooo on our side yesterday for our outdoor photo shoot at Inniswood Metro Gardens with this little sweet pea and her mom. The sun was shining softly, the breeze was blowing through the trees, and the butterflies were...well, you know, butterflying around the tulips and forget-me-nots. We couldn't have ordered a more perfect day. So, off we went to our garden party in search of great photo op spots - this place definitely does not disappoint.

Thought I'd give Mom a sneak peek until I get a chance to "work" on the other 96 amazing images I shot. Pretty as a picture, huh?

PS I forgot to mention my little friend here is the same sweet girl in the photos from my last posting, only a year later - she's a big "2 and a half" now and talking up a storm - oh, my...where does the time go?
